A Proud History

Pop Warner was founded in 1929, and continues to grow and serves as the only youth football, cheer leading & dance organization that requires its participants to maintain academic standards in order to participate. Pop Warner's commitment to academics is what separates the program from other youth sports around the world.

Morgan Hill Pop Warner (MHPW) is a non-profit organization interested in building leadership, teamwork, learning skills, and discipline in its young participants. Our goals are to inspire boys and girls to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship, and physical fitness. The program stresses the learning of these important values that reach far beyond playing and cheering on game day. With such goals in mind, and by providing an opportunity to participate in an organized, supervised environment with emphasis on maximum safety and participation, MHPW offers young men and women a unique experience. We hope you'll get involved, if you haven't already!

Our objectives are to make the program available to as many interested youths in our area as possible and to provide a safe and positive playing environment for all participants while instilling life-long values of teamwork, dedication and a superior work ethic in the classroom as well as the playing field.

Coach Mike Vasquez (Contact) Head Coach: Jr. Pee Wee Coach Vasquez has been with the Morgan Hill Raiders Organization for the last six seasons (five of those as Defensive Coordinator and one as Head Coach). "My goal for coaching is to show the players that hard work during practice always pays off on game days.  It's a lesson that will prepare each of them for life on and off the field.  My staff and I ensure that we make this process fun for all players as we challenge them to grow. What I enjoy most about this program is watching the players start the season as friends and end the season as brothers; teaching unity of vision and purpose so that they take this experience with them for rest of their lives."

Coach Brad De Young (Contact) Head Coach: Pee Wee Coach De Young has been a resident of Morgan Hill for the past 16 years.  He and his wife have two children playing this year.  His passion for football began at the age of nine and continued on as an adult when he played for the San Jose Wildcats and South Bay Buccaneers. "Some of the things I love about football are things sometimes overlooked by casual fans - so much thought, preparation, and technique not only athleticism is involved in every play. I also love many of the life-long lessons football teaches - self discipline, determination, leadership, goal setting, working as a team. Hard work doesn't have to feel like hard work. I look forward to working with the kids to make each practice fun and something they'll look forward to."
